Outside of my professional life, I enjoy time with my family, tennis and golf, and I consider myself a huge Star Wars fan. Why Choose Me? I currently have the honor of serving as President of the Colombian Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In this role, I lead efforts to advance surgical techniques, promote continuing education, and ensure that patients receive the most advanced and safe care possible. I am a founding member of the Colombian-Venezuelan Cataract Surgery Group, an initiative that reflects my commitment to international collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and skills among specialists, which ultimately improves patient care in both nations.

Leadership in Education and Training: I founded the Social Ophthalmology Service "SOS" in Valles Altos de Carabobo, Venezuela, in 2007, demonstrating my commitment to accessible, high-quality ophthalmic care. I have served as Professor and Director of the ATCS "Advanced Training on Cataract Surgery" in Medellín, Colombia, since 2014, and have been a professor and consultant at multiple renowned institutions, sharing my knowledge and passion with the next generation of ophthalmologists.

Innovation and Contribution to the Field of Ophthalmology: I have served as a speaker and consultant for various laboratories, contributing to advances in intraocular lens platforms and phacoemulsification systems. I have participated as an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses, sharing my expertise and knowledge with colleagues from around the world. I have led and created innovative congresses such as the "Hard Rock Cataract Stage" and the "Californian Cataract," offering platforms for the exchange of knowledge and techniques in cataract management and phacorefractive surgery.

Publications and Academic Participation: I am co-author of the Ultrachopper section in the book "El Cristalino de las Américas," and have contributed more than 65 presentations at scientific ophthalmology meetings and congresses. I am an active participant in world ophthalmology congresses, reinforcing my commitment to continuing medical education and advancement in my field. My comprehensive approach to ophthalmology focuses not only on providing advanced and personalized treatments, but also on contributing to the growth and development of ophthalmology on a global level, through education, research, and innovation. Main Areas of Treatment In my practice, I specialize in three key areas within ophthalmology, which I describe here in simple terms so that everyone can understand:

1) Advanced Cataract Surgery (Phacoemulsification): Imagine a cataract as a foggy window. I use a technique called phacoemulsification, where with care and precision, I remove the "foggy window" (the cataract) and replace it with a "clear window" (an intraocular lens). This technique significantly improves my patients' vision, allowing them to once again enjoy the colors and details of their surroundings. Every eye is unique, which is why I offer a variety of intraocular lenses designed to adapt to the specific needs of each patient. These lenses help improve vision at different distances, and in some cases even correct astigmatism, offering sharper and clearer vision.
