Reflux surgery is an operative intervention to treat chronic acid reflux by reinforcing or reconstructing the valve between the stomach and esophagus to prevent stomach acid from flowing backward. The most common procedure is fundoplication, which wraps part of the stomach around the lower esophageal sphincter to restore its function.
